Girls War Paint

Melissa posted this website for you ladies to find cheap makup.

Here is what she wrote (taken from THIS post):

Nordstrom is changing the logo on their makeup, so they’re selling everything that says “e.l.f.” for $1!!! (you still have to pay shipping)
The make-up line E.L.F. ( Eyes, Lips, and Face) has been bought out by Nordstrom and will be re-packaged with the Nordstrom name on it. They are getting rid of all the make-up in ELF packaging. They are selling everything for $1. You do have to pay shipping. However, even with that charge it’s cheaper than buying make-up anywhere else and it is fun to try things when you don’t have to worry about the cost! They have powder, mascara, brushes, nail polish, you name it ..

Also, if you use the coupon code: CAROLINA you will get $7.50 off your first $15 of your purchase.

Going Postal

What is it about the post office that takes so much time? My timing was perfect because I was the first in line for the passport service but it still took that long. I'll admit though, I enjoyed it. The lady at first was pretty grumpy but I think she could tell I was excited to be getting my first passport so she became really helpful.

First thing she did was take my picture. I've found the trick to taking decent official pictures is to not smile. When you try and smile, they always catch you between and look weird. She showed me the picture and while it wasn't great, at least I didn't look like the cat in the previous post.

Next, she went over my paper work. I had to change my mom's name from Beth to Elizabeth and had to add my middle name to the paper but other then that, everything was good. With a lot of money and stamping, she sealed my application and it was ready to be sent.

I mailed it to American Passport Express so they can expedite it. Everything should be ready by the 20th. I'll just have to cross my fingers that it will all be in order.

Cat of the Day - 0530

Ever feel like this? I know I do some times. Like when I say things that I shouldn't or they come out all wrong.

Anyways, this cat cracks me up because it reminds me of Tess.

Cat of the Day - 0529

I so gave my cat this haircut only with scissors. It was so funny! Her hair was all jagged but It did look pretty similar to this.

I found book 5 in the series at Walmart so I bought it and decided to start reading book one of the legacy of the force series. The book is called Betrayal and is starting out really good. You've got Luke and his wife Mara then Han and his wife Leia all with kids and they are going on Jedi missions. The mission that Han's son just accepted is the mission to Corellia, Han's home planet. Corellia is trying to start a rebellion against the Galactic Alliance and he will have to go in and destroy their defenses with only what he can smuggle in. That's about all I know right now but I have a feeling that one of the two couples sons will open to the dark side of the force. I think it will be Jacen, Han's son, because they've talked about his lack of remorse for death. I'll have to read and find out.

One of those days

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I was not made to multi-task. What a frustrating day this has been. Half the team has taken off work today and I'm sitting here with work piling up in my queue. I do pretty good jumping between tasks but it can eventually get to a point where I just need to take a step back and breathe. I think I'd go crazy if I had to do this all the time.

Well, back to the grind. I'm going to just do things one at a time and if people have to wait, they have to wait. I can do no more.

Heart and Soul

I was looking at some photos today and I saw one of two people playing the piano. Unless you're at a music hall, that means only one song: Heart and Soul. I know there are lyrics to that song but I've never heard them sung. I looked on the internet to see if I could find some one who would let me listen for free. It turns out that Dean Martin covered the song on one of his albums. I liked it so I think I'll try to buy it. I'll keep you posted on how that is going. My Russian site is down at the moment so I'll have to come back later.

Red Hot and Blue

Red Hot and Blue always sends me a free meal on my birthday. A while back I signed up as Danger Blanchard on their mailing list. I just thought it would be funny for some one to point out that Danger wasn't my name. I could then say "it's my middle name baby!" Well, several years later I'm still getting a free meal once a year. Today was that day. I used my coupon to enjoy a pulled pork platter with green beans, mashed potatoes and corn bread. Oh I love that place.

Wedding planning

There is a wedding this weekend. I'm supposed to plan something kinky for him the night before as is the tradition when sending a man off to the great unknown but here is the problem. He's in seminary school to become a preacher so where do I draw the line. He's a great friend and my college roommate so I don't think he'd really care what I did but I don't want to do anything offensive. I figure I'd get them some red bull to give them energy for an all night "you know what" but would eatable underwear be too much? I’ve got a decent list of things to get and while I’m out, I can’t forget to get window paint, string, and soda cans for their car.

E-money and the Church

Why can't the Church take electronic payments? Even fast food takes credit cards now but we still pass the plate in the service. I was talking to a friend of mine about this and he suggested that it might look bad if the Church offered too many tithing options. People can be skeptical about where the money goes to so maybe they think the ministers are trying to get rich off the congregation's paycheck. That may be so but what about the younger generation that doesn't carry cash and never writes checks? The baby boomer generation is passing on and generation x will be taking over pretty soon. A few of the differences are electronic banking instead of actually going into an institution. Email and texting instead of phone calls or snail mail. Also we don't wear watches. Those of us who do wear watches wear it for a fashion piece and not to tell time. That's what a cell phone is for.

Now my question for you is this. Is the Church's hesitation to add electronic tithing to their service a good idea or would you compare it to refusing power point or pew cushions?

If you would add electronic giving to the church, how would you do it? Would you put a booth in the lobby like a voting booth where you could give your tithe? Would you pass a wireless credit card machine down the isle with the plate? Would you provide a link on the website to may credit card payments? Or would you do some combination of the options listed?

Fire Drill

Ateb was sent an email today about a fire drill. At 11:00 they decided to test the fire alarms for the building. What a piercing sound those things make. And in the entrance hallways, those things just echo making your ears ring. I felt like I was back in grade school with those stupid drills we always used to do. Here's the email as it was sent. Note at the end they talk about using the buddy system with your cubemate. Is cubemate one word or two?

There will be a fire drill on Wednesday, 5/21/2008, @ 11:00 AM
Please follow the guidelines in the attached instructions.
As for dividing the office up into groups and appointing Floor Wardens and Assistants, will the following folks please assume responsibility for making sure everyone in your respective areas safely leave the building:
Maria Edwards/Sarah Radil Sales & Marketing Area
John Fansler/George Steigerwalt Development Area
Meredith Fitzgerald/Adriana Vance Implementation Area
A.J. Martin/David Kearney Test Area / Front Labs (both areas)
Craig Gleason/Alun Prytherch Cubes in your row / as well as rear Lab & Server Rooms
Gladys Buchanan/Jane McNeill Accounting Area/Canteen
Stephen Gray/Jeff Maddow Build Area and Surrounding Area
Chelsea Carmichael/Jack Martin Restrooms and Conference Rooms in Common Shared Area
Zishan Choudhary/Mike Dewell Customer Support Area
Nancy Brown Call Center Area
Jeanne Pulaski Reception Area/Customer Demo Room
Everyone should proceed to the nearest exit and wait outside until the "all clear" is given.
We should all use the "Buddy System" and make sure our cubemate as well as surrounding cubemates are able to leave the building safely. Everyone should also familiarize ourselves with the locations of the fire extinguishers located throughout the building.
Thank you!

Holding hands

This is one of those videos that I think should be sweet but I was watching it just cracking up. The people in the background keep saying the same thing over and over again and they just keep going on and on about them holding hands. It really is a funny video.

Pimp My Stroller

Maybe I should pimp Amy's stroller one day when she's out of town.

I added AdSense to the right side of my page. Since I figured that side wasn't being used really, I might as well fill it with something that gives me money. Let me know if it is too distracting and I can take it down.

Cat of the Day - 0520

This cat cracks me up just because I know how much energy drinks can get to you. I've blogged before about analyzing the theological teachings of the song Counting Blue Cars at 2:00 at night. And that's just one of the milder stories. I could share this one time in college...

Jiminy Kickit update - 5-20-08

We have a keeper! I was getting a little nervous about a few things but at BSF last night the CYC ladies really came through for me. Kristen will be covering the goal and a few others said they would either join or talk to their friends. The rule is you have to have 2 ladies on the field at all times and we at that time only had 3 total. That means if one didn't show up, the two ladies that did would have to play the whole game with out a rest. Even worse, if two couldn't make it, then we'd have to play down a player or forfeit the game. Now there are pool players we could grab so not a huge deal but I'd still rather play beside people I know.

Prince Caspian

I went to see Prince Caspian this weekend and while this is not a review I will talk about a few of the things that stood out about the movie. C. S. Lewis does such a great job of putting the bible in his work. Here are a few examples.

Probably the thing I liked most about the movie was the relationship Lucy had with Aslan. Out of the four, only she saw Him. She was asked why didn't the rest of us see him and her response hit the deeper cause there. "You probably were not looking for Him" she said which is true in our lives. Through out the movie High King Peter depended on his own experience instead of leaning on the strength of the real King. Peter was a great leader and did many things worthy of praise but like Peter in the Bible, he made mistakes. Jesus told Peter in the Bible that he would deny Him three times. Peter denied it and even tried to prove his faithfulness by cutting of a guy's ear. When it came time for the temptation though, Peter's pride kept him looking to himself for strength and not to the true source of Power; Jesus Christ. Like Peter in the Bible, he eventually came to his senses and when he turned back strengthened his fellow Narnians. What a great example for us. Always be looking for Christ but when you miss him, turn back and learn from it.

Coming back to the relationship Lucy had with Aslan, there was something else that really stood out. It was amazing how well she knew Him. She knew His voice, His walk, and even remembered His stature. I was blown away by the image of a little girl running up to this giant kingly lion with out fear. Isn't that like us and our relationship with God. A little girl with little to offer was allowed to know Aslan like no one else. As that relationship grows, so does her admiration of Aslan. Lucy noticed that Aslan was bigger then before. I'm not sure if it was her seeing Aslan more clearly or if He was actually growing but either way, the more our understanding of God grows the bigger he becomes. This reminds me of Mary in the Bible. She was the one who was about to be stoned and Jesus saved her. She was the sister who believed Jesus would resurrect Lazarus. She was the one who understood Jesus had to die and anointed his hair and feet with oil. She was the one who believed Jesus had risen again despite Peter and the disciples telling her she was crazy. How did she know this much about Jesus? I'll take a stab and say that she was always at His feet hanging onto every word. I wrote about that in a previous post but this was a great example of longing for and truly looking for a savior.

Sausage done right

Last week I wrote about really cooking your meat. I made sausages and got pretty sick from them so this time I decided to make sure it was cooked all the way. I let it stay on a little longer but not long enough to burn and they turned out great. As you can see from the left, I covered them in cheese and fried some onions for toppings. Then a little mustard to finish it off. You know, I think I might have a problem. I post way too much about food on here. Oh well, you talk about things you like and that is one of them.

It's raining

It's officially raining outside. My dog has been inside all day but doesn't even want to go out in that for a potty break. This could be bad.

Cat of the Day - 0516

Ateb made us food

Holy cats this is good! lol seriously though. Timbo at work every once in a while will make food for the company and we'll all enjoy something really amazing. The last two times it was a pig pickin but he decided to mix it up this time. What you can't see because I ate it already is all the sides. It's such a beautiful day, I'm eating great food, and I'm walking around in my flip flops. What more could you want on a Friday?

Wild at Heart and Captivating

Brian was telling me last night that his bible study was ending for the summer and they were going to read Wild at Heart during their break. I've never read the book myself but I heard a lot of people said it was good. Also, I've never studied Eldredge's theology presented on in his books but I've heard he was pretty much a heretic. is a great site for Christian book review as this guy reads at least a book a week if not more. Where he finds the time I don't know but I'm thankful. Often times I've Googled Challies and the book title and he usually has read it. In doing this for Wild at Heart, I noticed that Eldridge wrote a follow up book called Captivating. This is written for women and claims to be the female version of Wild at Heart.

After reading the review of both books I was left pretty disturbed by what was being said in these books. Yes it is true I love wild adventures and most women long to be romanced but Eldredge uses this as a platform to bash Christianity, Godly men and women I respect, and the few verses he uses are almost always taken out of context. Granted I have not read them but for as many men as I respect to show he shows complete disregard for sound Christian doctrine, I have to believe there is something not right there. If you were thinking about reading that book or maybe have read it and were influenced by it, I would encourage you to use the Bible as a test to show if his view of man and woman are correct.

Challies - Wild at Heart
Challies - Captivating
Garry Gilley - Wild at Heart

Even John MacArthur wrote a book called Fool's Gold to warn people of these books.

Everyone wants to think there is some big conspiracy out there. We all want to be the one who understands some new truth and with that desire is the temptation to be deceived. I can relate to this as you can tell my excitement over hearing the first part of Luke 21 preached in a new way (see THIS review). While there are new things about God that we will discover each an every day, we must be cautious to test all things to God's word. I own Wild at Heart and I was thinking about reading it just to see what all the hype is about but if MacArthur says there is no biblical base to his writing, I don't think I'll waste my time.

It's the weekend and I have no big events planned for the weekend. It is so nice being able to relax a bit and know all I have on my plate is a movie Saturday and a birthday lunch Sunday.

Speaking of birthday lunch, I guess I should go shopping again to pick something up. Oh, and there's a wedding gift I need to pick up also. I wrote I didn't want to go shopping for at least a few months... at least I made it two weeks.

This just in. I found out the birthday lunch is next week due to a conflict but I still should go shopping. I'm babysitting Christopher tonight so maybe he can help me pick something out.

Scheduled Post

This is pretty cool. I've posted 5 posts so far today but I set them to show up an hour apart. It's Thursday morning now but when you read this, it will be at least Thursday afternoon or even later.
I wish I had known that when I was posting my funny verses. I could have posted them once and not had to worry about logging in each day to hit publish.

Tales Resold

I can't believe it. I went to Tales Resold today to pick up a Star Wars book and they were no longer there. I really wish I had known that they were going out of business. I could have bought lots of cheap comics. That guy didn't know what he was doing and I could have probably gotten some old books in mint condition well under their correct value. Oh well, I suppose I should save the money anyhow.

Used for good

To illustrate a point, a friend of mine began telling a story. This young man met a beautiful lady in his Sunday School class. They both loved God and read their Bible every day. They served in the Church in many of the same ministries and before long began to date. The couple was perfect and nobody was surprised when they became engaged. Everything was great. One night while she was asleep, she left her window unlocked and some guy broke in and raped her. How could something like that happen to such a perfect couple my friend asked. How could God allow it? The couple went to counseling for that issue and the pastor gave them some advice. He said he understood what they were going through and the hardships that was causing them. He said God would use that experience for good one day so they could hope in that. They felt better for the time but years later, the girl still felt used and the guy was still struggling with the damage that was done to his wife. They began to resent God for that experience and eventually left the church and their faith.

I had always heard that bad things happen to good people because God would be able to use that experience for good. I accepted that teaching but it's funny some one can point out the truth and your whole thinking is changed. Again, i was blown away by this. He said that by accepting that doctrine, you are saying God needs for bad things to happen in order for his plan to work. God is not limited by anything so that type of thinking is just wrong. As a matter of fact, God is deeply grieved when one of his children are hurt. You see, bad things happen because of our fallen nature. When the Earth was created, God said it was good. Sin distorts the truth and brings about hardships for believers and unbelievers alike. Had that pastor understood the situation correctly, he would have said that God very sorry for the pain they were going through and that God love them and will be there for them through this. This is true and we will be comforted by Him till we are taken home (Isaiah 66:13).

One of the questions is were you referred by anyone. My screen name is thirdconspiracy if you'd like to answer that question.

Fu Manchu

I love Kung Fu. Kung Fu is the last true Shakespearian tragedies on film. The stories are so rich and I love the dance between the two fighters and the danger involved. The cinematography always has such rich colors and style. Finally, there is the hair styles of the people. One such style is the Fu Manchu. I began the process of cutting my dog's hair and I noticed two patches that reminded me of the great Doctor himself. I've decided I'm going to shave my dog completely but leave the stash. It's going to look so funny, I can't wait.

Jesus and our last coins

Take a look at the following passage and let me know what you think.
And He said, "Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them; for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on."
Just looking at that passage you would think Jesus was praising her selfless deeds. One thing we do in BSF is always try to look at how the verse you read interacts with verses around it. That's a good idea because often "what does this passage mean" is replaced by "what do you think this passage means." I am not God so I could be wrong therefore I now try to get a complete understanding of what is being said by the passage. Take a look again. This time with a few verses before it.
"Beware of the scribes,... who devour widows' houses,... These will receive greater condemnation." And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw a poor widow putting in two small copper coins. And He said, "Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them; for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on." [emphasis added]
Now, looking at the verse before it and Luke using the transition "and He looked up and saw" It's almost like Jesus knew what this poor woman was going to do and wanted to scold them for allowing her to do this. So, what does that say about the woman? That poor woman may have been deceived. She might have thought to get to heaven you have to pay your way in or do enough good to get in. We know the only way to heaven is through God and not by works so no man may boast so what does that mean about that poor woman's eternal destination? What does that mean for the scribes who let her go that way? We know it is better to tie a stone around your neck and throw you into the sea then to keep one from salvation. If that was their practice, were the religious leaders going to heaven?

I've been a Christian for 23 years now and I've never heard this sermon preached this way. It's amazing that any time you think you've heard all the sermons and the doctrines, something comes along and just blows you away. I've posted this before but I just can't wait for summer to start next Monday. I'll be able to study using the "what, what, and so what" method Mike and Patti described and hopefully experience God like never before.

Too much time

I did something last night I haven't done in a while. I worked on my computer for what I thought would just be a few moments. Two hours later, I was amazed at how much time I wasted on that thing. Since I have full internet access at work, I've not needed to do anything on my personal PC. That means I had about 3 months worth of windows and anti-virus updates to do. On top of that you figure you'll check your email and play a game of Risk. I love that game. Finally, I looked up directions for the wedding next weekend. Well, I probably won't be doing that again for a while as my ambition to do some extra reading and plan out my quiet time schedule for the next few months was completely halted.

Camera Problems

Last Sunday was my first week working the camera. I'm a little embarrised at how bad I did since I've got some experience working cameras from before. The problem is you have to reach around the camera to change the focus and the zoom. When they are asking you to do that while moving the camera, done on the other side, it makes it pretty difficult. Also since there is only one camera, you don't have any time to set up your shot while another camera is on screen. Oh well, nothing you can do.

Morning Routine

Keeley and I have our morning routine. First, we snooze. My alarm goes off and Keeley looks at me like aren't you going to turn that off. I do and we sleep for another nine minutes. Then maybe again... you never know. Anyways, I finally get up and Keeley follows me into the bathroom. She patiently waits while I shower and as soon as the water turns off, she jumps up excited. Now I never understood this but Keeley loves to lick my ankles after I get out. At first I thought she was just thirsty so I put a bowl of water in the bathroom for her but she still does it. Even if I make sure to dry off really good she still licks. Well, I've given up understanding it so I just brush my teeth now while she stands there licking me. Is that weird? Maybe it is but it's a lot easier then trying to stop her. That girl is one stubborn dog.

Facebook Chat

So I was on Facebook a little while ago and this window popped up. I didn't know what was going on but it turns out they have this chat program built in. I started chatting to an old friend I haven't spoken with in forever. It sux but I figured out from that conversation that I'm double booked for next weekend. Ugh, I wish summer was at least two months longer.

tighten you laces

What's up with Sperry and the laces always coming undone? If you'll look to the left, I got tired of always having to tie my shoes so I double-knotted them. With the no slip bottoms, you'd think they could come up with a no slip shoe lace.

Another house sells

Looking on the real estate web site for Wake County, I saw another house sold near me that was my house plan. Granted my house has some upgrades but it sold for $1,000 less then then the average. Come on Headingham, stay strong.

It was on Cog Hill which usually sells for a little less so that may mean my property has appreciated even more. Wouldn't that be something.

over 100 posts

wow, I just looked and this will be my 112th post on the blog. Granted a lot of the posts are pretty short but that's not too bad for just a few months of blogging.

BSF ends

Last night was the last normal night of BSF. It's been a good year and I've really learned a lot from the study of the book Matthew. At first I was disappointed that the study was over but now I'm actually excited of what new I'll learn. Also, Matthew ending means the study of Moses begins and I know that will be an interesting study.

Because of BSF I've learned a lot and through each week, I grew in Christ. There are both good and bad things about BSF and if there was not a break I would still be thinking it was the BSF method that caused the growth and not the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit working through the things I've read and prayed about I know God more completely and that is what we strive for right?

Hopefully going into the study next year I'll go about each lesson with the Holy Spirit giving me power and understanding to determine the Fathers will and understand the Son's grace.

Speed Racer tanks

I'm not surprised that speed racer did not do well at the box office. The thing Hollywood just doesn't understand is that we're not stupid. Ok, I'll concede that we are only moderately stupid. X-men one and two were both really good movies so we all went to see the third one knowing it would be a terrible movie. I guess they had hoped for the same thing with Speed Racer but the numbers just didn't deliver like they had hoped. They used words like disappointed as if the movie goers let them down and blamed the packed summer schedule. Why can't they see that if all the critics say a movie is flashy but has no story and isn't worth the money, people might actually listen to them. Rotten Tomatoes said Iron Man had 93% freshness rating and it is doing very well. Speed racer which has a 35% freshness rating suffers in the box office despite all the money thrown at it.

Reviews Counted: 141
Fresh: 49
Average Rating: 4.9/10

Gone are the days when people would go to a movie because it looked cool. There are too many movies like that out now. Maybe if tickets were $5 again I would be likely to go see it only for the special effects but to pay $9.25 is just crazy.

It's not my fault you made a crappy movie Hollywood. I'll give you my money when I feel it would be worth it. And that's all I have to say about that.

Game time

Last Friday Colonial opened their gym to the singles ministry for a night of food and games. I went out there and played volleyball and basketball and obviously took in the food. I started out on the potato bar and ended up with strawberry shortcake. It was really good plus I've been on the go so much lately, it was good to schedule some athletic activities.

After, Dave invited those who stuck around till the end over to his place and we made milkshakes (and hotdogs but that was just Dave and I). I had a great time and it was a good start to a full weekend.

Burn your meat!

I learned an important lesson Friday. I've been on this kick lately to cook my own food to get a little more variety and also to save some money. I was cooking some sausages on the grill and you can typically tell they are done when they start spraying everywhere. Well, they both started doing that so I took them off the grill added them to my bun along with cheese and mustard and took a bite. It was so good but I noticed that it might not have been done all the way. That was Thursday night after I was worn out from shopping so I didn't feel it was worth lighting the grill again to cook it some more so I just ate it. Bad idea. That night I woke up around 4 with a pain in my stomach. I wanted to throw up but I was just unable to do so. Pretty much the whole day Friday and most of Saturday I was feeling funny. I guess I was lucky it was not a lot worse but from now on, my pork will always be burnt.

Guys and shopping cont.

Now that's what I call shopping. I called a flower shop and asked them to deliver a 3 rose arrangement in a vase. She took my info and took care of the rest. I love online and phone shopping. I was on and off in 5 minutes.

Guys and shopping

I've come to the conclusion that guys were not made to shop. I went to Target yesterday and wandered around looking for presents for at least an hour. Since I wasn't looking for electronics, I couldn't find anything in that store. I finally gave up on wedding presents and decided to skip oto next on my list. Just before complete frustration, I asked some nice lady where I could find a gift for a four year old girl. She pointed me to the Disney isle where I found a Cinderella dress. Next I had to find something for a one year old boy. Kristine suggested some kind of video since he can't really do all that much yet so I went to the electronics section. I thought I'd be ok there but all I could find are normal DVDs. All the Baby Einstein and Bob the builder DVDs were not there. I asked a few of the guys working there and one of the three was able to point me to the correct isle. I found a Thomas & Friends DVD that looked nice so I picked that up. Next, was the easy part. I needed to pick up a gift for the two kids fathers. He's been in Iraq for about a year so I wanted to get him something to do while on R&R. A movie I heard was really good and I wanted to see myself was Bella so I picked that up for him. Then I found cards for his wife, my sister, and my mother and I was done with Target. I won't say that was the longest two hours of my life but it wasn't exactly fun.
Next up was the mall. I went to a store called Things Remembered and picked up a frame for my sister. They're pretty cool since you can engrave anything on the stuff you buy there. That would have been really easy but the lady in front of me couldn't make up her mind and had a kid that cried the whole time. Seriously, the whole time. Again, I won't say it was the longest 30 minutes ever but still not very fun.
Finally, I'm coming back to the wedding gifts that I needed to pick up. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and found some nice lady to help me out. She printed out their gift and told me it was all sorted by section. I asked her if I could shop online and pick it up later since I didn't want to be in a store any longer. I think she thought I was joking but she offered to find things for me and even gave me a few suggestions. I settled on a couple of knives. One for the shower that I missed last week and one for the wedding day. She took it out of the case and took it to the front, checked me out, and even wrapped it for me. Now that's shopping I can get used to. If only I had gone here first. On top of all that, I had a coupon for 20% off so I was feeling a little better when I left that store.
After a day like that, I don't think I'll be store shopping again anytime soon.

Year one

The last Sunday in May will mark one year since joining Colonial's CYC class. It's been a busy year and a lot has changed. If you've read my testimony, you know all God has done for me in one short year. Wow, despite how it felt at the time, that one year really was short. I guess the saying is right... And this too shall pass.

She snores

I love my dog but some times she drives me crazy. Like last night when she was laying next to my bed snoring keeping me from sleep. Luckily once I called her name, she woke up and got some water. That seemed to fix the problem as the snoring probably came from my hotdog bun she stole an hour earlier. Sneaky little dog. Seriously though, some positions I think she has a hard time breathing and really goes to town on some logs if I don't get her to move. This is mostly when she sleeps on her back as you can see from the picture. What's up with her belly though. It was shaved about a year ago when she was fixed and it still isn't growing hair there.

Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming

I've blogged about this once before but I read this in a recent article.

3. The fall frustrated all of our labors.

When Adam and Eve rebelled against God, we did too. Their debt was transferred over to our spiritual checking account. The entire world was also subjected to futility (Rom. 8:20). That means that human work, which used to be enjoyable, was now filled with things like thorns, thistles and sweat (see Gen. 3:17–19). Post-fall work is hard and marked by difficulties. (Murphy's law — which I frequently experience! — says that whatever can go wrong will go wrong. But Murphy's law didn't exist in the Garden of Eden and, praise God, it won't exist in the new heavens and new earth.)

Looking at work after the fall, we notice it will not be easy and while there are times of satisfaction, there are times of frustration as well. The article goes on to show that even though your job isn't perfect, you should do it with the best of your ability.

The original article can be found HERE and is a great read. It is yet another reminder of the consequences of sin and the fall. Every area of life is affected by it and the more I see, the more I understand what Jesus carried on the cross. We're studying the death and resurrection of Jesus now in BSF and they do a great job of showing us everything he went through. Not just his physical pain but also the burden of sin and isolation from God and his friends. Realizations like this really show the sacrifice He made and give me encouragement to keep going.

James 1

Last night in our mens Bible study we went through James chapter one. It was a good night and we were blessed by the lesson but there was just so much more that we'd like to cover. A few questions came up about the origin of the book of James since he started out the book with to the 12 tribes. We came to the conclusion this was before Peter had his vision and began his ministry to the gentiles. At that point, Christianity was only given to the Jews. There were several other questions that would have been answered if we had time to go through the background before the study but like drinking out of a fire hose, we're rushing through the study so we can finish by June 3rd. At that point, BSF will be over and a few of those guys will be joining us. All in all, I'm excited for the study and despite the rush, I think we'll learn a lot.

On another note, dinner was pretty good. I made a pretty big pot therefore I had enough to fill 4 Rubbermaid disposable containers. I brought these to work as you can see to the left. That means for the next 4 days, I'll have lunch made and I won't need to spend money. I've been eating out since I graduated from college but every time is surprises me how expensive it is. I went to Chic-fil-a yesterday since I didn't have leftovers and I have to drop off money on Tuesdays. I paid $8 for a chicken club sandwich, a fruit cup, and a Dr. Pepper soda. Now that I'm cooking, I think I'll be amazed at how much more money I have at the end of the month. That means I can save more therefore buy an even bigger tv this Christmas when the Day after Thanksgiving sales are out. On a more responsible note, that also means I can pay off my car faster and keep increasing my savings account. I tricked myself by creating a hidden money market that gets $50 direct deposited every pay period. By the end of the year, I should have $1200 saved in addition to interest earned. Since I don't know that account "exists," I can also increase my normal savings and only use that for emergencies like when a big screen tv goes on sale. Seriously though, you never know what big purchases you'll need to make so it's always good to be prepared.

TASL Summer Heat

TASL summer heat is coming up and I got to say I'm excited to be playing again. It's been several months since I last played soccer so I know I'll be a bit rusty. Luckily we'll be doing the rec league so that shouldn't be a problem. I think we'll have a few players new to the game so it should be pretty fun being a coach. I always enjoyed doing that when I was younger and even took a few teams pretty far in tournaments. I've got about a week to generate enough interest for 7 more players. That shouldn't be too hard since I've heard general interest from about 10. We just need the $$$ commitment from them. Oh, and several of them need to be female.

Bible Study Dinner

What should I make for dinner for the guys in the bible study tonight? When cooking for people, I like making nicer dinners but due to cost of the ingredients, that would mean normal portion sizes. Since the guys in the bible study eat anywhere from 6 to 7 times the FDA recommended amount, that leaves me with cheap food in mass quantity. Luckily Bogus just gave me one such recipe so I’ll probably make that. I forgot the name but it involves elbow macaroni, tomatoes, pork and beans, hamburger meat, and ketchup. It’s really simple and tastes great but isn’t all that healthy. That’s the problem with every day cooking. Realistically, to cook every day, you pretty much need to make meals that use similar ingredients but also use ingredients that you can afford to buy. Right now that means chicken and ground beef. Maybe I’ll include a can of green beans on the side to add a little more nutrition.

Funny Verse - 10

Song of Solomon 7:7-8
Your stature is like a palm tree;
your breasts are clusters [of fruit].
I said, "I will climb the palm tree
and take hold of its fruit."

Easy Solomon, this is the Bible you're writing in.

Google Reader

If you read a lot of blogs every day as I do, I would encourage you to check out Google Reader. It puts them all in one place and you can tell it to only show you things you haven't read yet.

How pretty is this dog. Weimaraners I hear make great pets but because of their size and energy, they need a bigger house to keep them. One of these days...

Playing with food

We were feeding Christopher last night and he decided he was done eating and wanted to play. He gladly accepted a mouth full of food right before he blew them back out everywhere. After that, I figured out you could spray water out of his bottle by squeezing the nipple when it is up side down. At first he didn't know what was hitting him but he eventually would open his mouth and I'd spray it in there. Mom always said don't play with your food but it's so much fun.

Here are two pictures I had on my cell phone from Saturday night. About 20 of us went to Frankie's for the TBD celebration. That is the Thomas, Brantley, and Darren birthday celebration.

Adventure Dog

Keeley with her back pack ready to go camping. REI was having a sale on pet supplies so bought that along with a few other things including a 2 person tent for $109. That's pretty good considering you don't typically find them under $200.

E-trade baby

Christopher says "I just bought stock. "

Funny Verse - 9

Song of Solomon 4:2
Your teeth are like a flock of newly shorn [sheep]
coming up from washing,
each one having a twin,
and not one missing.

So I'm guessing she wasn't a hockey player.

Real Estate and Tickets

I was looking at the Wake Count Real Estate search page today to see how my neighborhood was doing. For the first two years houses similar to my own stayed around the same price however recently they've really gone up. This is in large part due to 540 going through near my house and that new shopping center that was built. I'm thankful for that new construction even though I don't like to go out there myself. Knightdale is the worst city in Wake county for speeding violations. I don't know if it's just that they have nothing better to do or if they just want the extra income writing tickets gives them but it's crazy. My parents gave me a radar detector for Christmas so maybe now I actually will be able to go out there and not worry about some cop hiding at the bottom of a hill where the speed changes from 55 to 45 on a 6 lane highway. Yeah, they got me about a month ago so I'm a little annoyed with it. Can you believe that I spoke to some guy for 45 seconds and he charged me $120 for his time. Then on top of that I still had to pay the ticket. The whole system is a scam. Shenanigans I say!

There is this new online tool that searches through blogs and lets you know who has been reading your blog. If you click HERE, you will be taken to a search page where you can put your blog's name in and search for what they call authority. My authority is 3 at the moment therefore there are three blogs that are linked to one of my posts. Pretty cool huh?

Funny Verse - 8

Deuteronomy 25:11-12
If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.

Wow! For some reason I've never heard a sermon preached on this. I wonder why.

Pizza turned out pretty good

As you can see from the left, I didn't have any normal flour so I had to use whole grain flour. It had a different consistency then you would expect from a pizza but was still really good. Next, I added the ingredients to the two pies. The big one was pepperoni and pineapple topped with mozzarella cheese. The second one with the thick crust was green pepper, onion, mushrooms, and sausage topped with mozzarella cheese.

I brought it to work for lunch today and everyone was saying how good it looked. I made a pretty big mess and I was late meeting some one last night because I was covered in flour but it will be good to have food for the next couple of days with out cooking or spending money.

mmm... mmm... mmm... look at these toppings.

Funny Verse - 7

My college roommate is getting married and we had a bachelor party this past weekend. He's a seminary student so obviously he's pretty familiar with the bible. When one of the guys started singing a 50 cent song, a joke got started about "blessed are the peace makers."
