Marcie and I made the best pizza I've ever had the other night. The crust we made similar to focaccia bread but added a little brown sugar also. Bread is really three things: flour, yeast, and water (and maybe salt). On top of that, you add different things to flavor the bread. Typical things you could add are EVOO, brown sugar, sugar, honey, molasses, herbs, and/or spices.
We bought some really good sausage at Walmart the other day and also got a package of feta for free. We decided to make our pizza a Mediterranean style pizza because of what we had on hand. Instead of sauce, we used EVOO and a lot of basil, oregano, and rosemary. That's a lot thinner then sauce but has a very strong flavor. Then lightly covered that with mozzarella cheese. With the base taken care of, we added cherry tomatoes, olives, that amazing sausage (browned obviously), artichoke (also awesome tasting), and crumbled feta. We baked at 425 for 15-20 minutes till crust turned golden brown. We baked that on our cooking stone which works really well. It cooks very even and never sticks.
That will go down in the record books as a recipe to try again.
